He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert L File and Dolores File (Collins); his siblings, Larry Gene File, Ricky Dale File and Beverly Spindler (File); his in-laws, Delbert and Jean Scott; and his brother-in-law Rick Scott.

He is survived by: his wife Marti File (Scott); his son Jeff File (Mardi); his grandsons, Tayler File (Grace) and Jon-Paul File; his brother Lanny File (Paulette); and his brothers-in-law, Keith Scott (Nancy), Neil Scott (Pam), Kevin Scott (Emy) and Robin Scott (Christine). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, the flowers requests donations made to Evansville Animal Control and the Vanderburgh County Humane Society.
