He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Schmidt and Elsie Schmidt (Swaagman); and his siblings, Helen Schmidt, Nora Kies, Reana Schmidt, James Schmidt, Lowell Schmidt, Wayne "Doc" Schmidt and Danny Ray Schmidt.

He is survived by: his wife Earlene "Pete" Schmidt; his daughters, Sonia Curl (Jeff) and Joanna "Jodi" Dickinson (Mike); his grandchildren, Alyssa Curl, Logan Curl (Sarah), Joshua Dickinson and Andrea Dickinson; his great grandchildren, Anderson, Ellie Rose and Peyton Lee; his siblings, Robert Schmidt and Karen Postletheweight (Chuck); and his nieces and nephews, Chad Schmidt (Shaunda), Christina Whitfield (Scott), Barbara Watson (Stephen), Wes Lantaff, Terry Postletheweight, Daniel Schmidt, Donna Black, Karen Schmidt, Cheryl Schmidt, Larry Schmidt, Tom Schmidt, Bret Schmidt and Byron Kies. He is also survived by numerous extended family and friends.
