It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Scott A. Merkel of Evansville, Indiana, who passed away on April 16, 2024, at the age of 64, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Merkel and Betty Merkel (Russell); and his brother Bill Merkel. He is survived by : his brothers, John R. Merkel of Shelbyville, IN and Mike Merkel (Vicky) of McKinney, TX; his sister-in-law Kim Merkel; his niece Courtney Merkel (Patrick Lewis); and his nephews, Doug Merkel (Brandi), Rob Merkel, Blake Merkel (Brittany), Tyler Merkel (Tara), Brett Merkel (Carolanne) and Josh Merkel.

In lieu of donations, the family asks that you bet your favorite horse in Scott's memory or donate to a local charity of your choice.
