He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Coan and Elvora Coan (Mayville); and his siblings, Paul, Tom, Phillip, Leona, Dorothy, Joyce and Nellie.

He is survived by: his wife Cecelia Coan (Gerteisen); and his sons, Brian Reising of Lawrence, MA and Matthew Gerteisen of Auburn Hills, MI. He is also survived by numerous nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
