He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Moppy" Burris and Ruby "Irene" Phillips (Enlow); his brothers, Donald "Gene" Dupont and Boy Phillips; his father-in-law George Norrington Sr.; and his brothers-in-law, Mark Norrington and Rick White.

He is survived by: his wife Julia "Norrington" Burris; his sons, Timothy "TJ" Cox and Charles "Ryan" Cox; his stepchildren, Angela Ruble (Mike), Mary Tyree and Robert Tyree (Krystin); his grandchildren, Alexia Stone, Selena Morrow, Ruby Cox, Rylyn Stone, Ashton Tyree, Scarlett Clark, Sawyer Tyree-Wilson, Dalia Ellis, Leon Tyree and Ember Bennett; his great grandchild Raeden Stone; and his siblings, Sheila Fuhrman (Hilbert), Alice "Marie" Stone, George "Bub" Norrington, Teresa Townley, Charles Crowley and Cheryl Gottschall. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
