He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius "Neal" Mayer and Mathilda Mayer (Berendes); his wife Shirley Mayer (Lappe); his granddaughter Kaitlyn Mayer; and his siblings, Larry Mayer and Dolores Hupfer.
He is survived by: his children, David Mayer (Susan), Tom Mayer (Connie), Lisa Matthews (Tom) and Lori Mayse (Jerry); his grandchildren, Christine Scheetz (Robert), Lauren Mayer (Chris Diven), Elisabeth Mayer, Tyler Mayer (Aygusta) and Alison Mayer; and his great grandchildren, Leila, Sophia, Dawson and Henry.
