He was predeceased by : his parents, Sidney Butterfield and Ruth Butterfield (Lane); his sister Ruth Thomas; and his former life partner Connie Butterfield. He is survived by : his children, James Butterfield (Barbara) of Evansville, IN, Kathy Brooks (David) of Manchester, NH, Betsy McGarvey (Fred) of Indianapolis, IN, Sarah Budden (Gerd) of Lake Oswego, OR., Tracy Kessler (Phil) of Evansville, IN, Rhonda Dame (Tim) of Evansville, IN, Kelly Butterfield of Evansville, IN and Jama Bannister (Jeff) of Evansville, IN; his grandchildren, Sarah Cox, Jon Brooks, Courtney Hahn, Daniel Brooks, Caleb Brooks, Andrea Prisk, Megan McGarvey, Elizabeth McGarvey, Anna Budden, Sidney Waddington, Amy Giorgio, William Brooks, Sarah Morris, Jan Budden, Logan Dame, Katarina Harding, David Butterfield, Hilary Scott, Christian Budden, Mackenzie Santos, Harrison Parchment, Mia Parchment, Bjorn Budden, Eric Budden and Vivecka Heinke; his sister Dr. Mary Butterfield of Pompano Beach, FL.; his nephew William Thomas; and his nieces, Mary Thomas Lentz, Julie Thomas Cohen and Sarah Thomas Petro. He is also survived by 37 great-grandchildren.
