He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest E. Thompson and Ethel M. Thompson (Huett); and his wife Marian Thompson (Maxey). He is survived by: his children, Pam Russ (Bobby), Jerry McDowell (Vannetta) and Jim VerWayne (Kathy); and his grandchildren, Randy Payne, Joe McDowell (Leah), Jared VerWayne (Jessica), Amanda Koontz (Trevor), Logan Russ (Megan), Jacob Russ and Jenna Russ.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Pierre Funeral Home (2601 W Franklin St, Evansville, IN 47712). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest Hills Wesleyan Church, 2801 Claremont Ave, Evansville, IN 47712.
