He was predeceased by: his parents, Delno Meece and Lura Meece (Stephens); his son Ryan Meece; and his siblings, Jack S. Meece, Janet Joyce (Meece), Gayle Clapp (Meece) and Lynell McGinnis (Meece).
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Meece (Marx); his daughter Danielle Casey (Corey); his grandchildren, Riley Casey, Keagan Meece and Kennedy Meece; his daughter-in-law Trisha Meece; his sister Gretta Giacometti; and his sister-in-law Bev Meece. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of James can be made to the Dwight Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
