It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phyllis Gene Schmits of Fort Branch, Indiana, who passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Sampson and Marie Sampson (Woods); her husband Carl "Richie" Schmits; and her brothers, Jim and Jerry Sampson.
She is survived by: her sister Joyce Biel of Fort Branch; her siblings-in-law, Bill Schmits (Annette) of Sebring, FL and Elaine Schmits of Newburgh; and her godsons, Jonathan Wood (Chantal) and Shayne May (Ranae). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
