He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Smith and Elva Smith (Choate); his wife Joann Smith; and his daughter Pam Smith. He is survived by: his granddaughters, Sarah Bransteter (Jason) and Amy Felger (Brian); and his great grandchildren, Paige Bransteter, Carter Bransteter, Abby Felger and Jacob Felger.
