He is survived by: his wife Marlene Scherman; his stepsons, Mark Slater of Fort Wayne, David Slater (Adam) of Cincinnati, OH and Matt Slater (Thomasine) of St Louis, MO; and his grandchildren, Mitchell Slater, Shane Slater, Brandon Slater, Jacob Slater, Madi Slater and Sierra Slater.

Memorial contributions may be made to University of St Francis or St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
