He is survived by: his wife Monica Ann Markley; his children, Shea Rutherford (Kassi), LaiKyn Muehl (Zach) and Kolby Rutherford (Courtney); his stepchildren, Ryan Keebler (Ashley), Aaron Keebler (Macy), Mason Keebler (Remi), Megan Keebler, Lily Keebler and Isabella Keebler; and his siblings, Terri Smith (Mark) of Lancaster, Kentucky, Phil Rutherford (Lesa) of Frankfort, Rick Rutherford of Tampa and Tim Rutherford (Stephanie) of Frankfort, Ohio..
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hite Funeral Home (403 S Main St, Kendallville, IN 46755). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dan's memory may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
