He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Scherer and Helen Scherer (Lenz); his wife Louena; and his siblings, Richard Scherer and Carolyn Myers.

He is survived by: his children, Stanley Scherer (Debra) of Fort Wayne, Randy Scherer (Pam) of Monroeville, Diane Riecken (Jim) of Fort Wayne, Connie Newman (Jim) of Fort Wayne and Cheryl Schlotter of Fishers. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Preferred memorials are to Worship Anew or to the church.
