He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward E. Gilbert and Freda Gilbert (Wise); his spouse Coreen G. McCoy; and his siblings, Charlie, Edward and Sarah Gilbert.

He is survived by: his sons, Dan (Julie) and Joe Gilbert (Cyndi); his siblings, Thomas Gilbert (Sue) and Ellen Jeffries; and his grandchildren, Damon, Ellie, Chase, Delaney and Emmie.
