She was predeceased by: her parents, George Vanslyke and Dorothy Vanslyke (New). She is survived by: her husband William "Bill" Kern; her children, Christina Reber (David), Benjamin Kern (Dawn) and Jeffrey Kern (Nancy); her grandchildren, Nicholas Marshall (Ruth), James Marshall Reber (Miranda Champion), Austin Kern (Amber), Kaitlyn Kern (David Logan), Jeffrey Kern Jr. (Emily), Matthew Kern (Kayla), Amanda Kern, Kristin Grow (Chris) and Justin Hayes; her great grandchildren, Alexandra Marshall Tsuria, Graycia Kern, Karson Kern, Rebecca Kern, Jocelyn and Addlhyn Kern; and her sister Leah Byrer (Eanie).
