He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Alwine and Anna Alwine (Hepschmidt); his wife Cecilia "Celie" Alwine (Weaver); his grandsons, Sam Hively and Dylan Alwine; and his sister Roseann Cox.
He is survived by: his children, James E. "Jay" Alwine Jr. (Jennifer) of Fort Myers, Michelle Federspiel (John) of Fort Wayne and Pam Hively (Brad) of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
