He was predeceased by: his son Daniel Thompson; his parents, Neil Thompson and Collette Thompson; and his brother Bill Thompson (Cindy Thompson). He is survived by: his wife Mary Thompson; his children, Bob Thompson, Kathy Thompson, Pete Thompson, John Jakelski, Jim Jakelski and Joann Jakelski; and his siblings, Kitty (Nick Miller) and Eddie (Susie Thompson).
