He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse H. Gomez, Sr. and Abelia Mary Gomez (Rodriguez); his wife Marlene D. Carr; his brothers, Cecil, Ted and Louis Gomez; and his grandson Michael Gomez.
He is survived by: his children, Tom Gomez of Fort Wayne, Bridgette Bell of Fort Wayne, Bernard Gomez, Jr. of Fort Wayne, Corine Gomez of Fort Wayne and Joseph Anthony "Tony" Gomez (Susan) of Columbia City; and his siblings, Jesse Gomez, Jr., Nacha Cuellar, Vicki Meier (Jim), Mary Gonzalez, Juanita McMeeking (Gordon), Lupe Murray (Bill), Rosie Moeckel, Maggie Merchant (Todd) and Carmen Hoffman. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
