We are sad to announce that on November 3, 2022, at the age of 90, John Ruel Zern (Fort Wayne, Indiana) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ervin A. Zern and Maryl Ruel Zern; his wife Joyce Gerver; his children, Allison Sturm, Jim (Stephanie), Caroline Lee (Joe) and John (Amy); his sisters, Mary Z. Powell of Austin, TX and Andrea Brennan of Woodstock, IL.; his grandchildren, Kate, Jack, Michael, Christian, Mack, Grace, Caroline, Jacqueline, Ellie, Patrick and Pilar; his daughter Jennifer; his grandson José Maria; and his son-in-law Joe Sturm. He was also cherished by many loving nieces and nephews.

Donations in Jack's honor may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or to Bishop Luers High School.
