He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Hovis, and Jewel Mae Hovis, Jr. (Welling); and his brother TommyJoe Hovis. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Hovis of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his children, Elizabeth Hovis Hernandez (Carlos) of Mexicali, Marion Gene Hovis, Jr. (Joy) of Fort Wayne and Robin Lynn Hovis of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his grandchildren, Isaac Harris, Zechariah Harris, Aweston Hovis and Dallas Hovis; his great grandchild Aiden Hovis; and his sisters, Judi Carpenter, Vickie Baker, Rebecca Proffitt (Jerry) and Patricia Wood.
