He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris H. and Margaret Waltemath; the mother of his children Barbara Ann Waltemath; his siblings, Richard Waltemath and Mary Catherine Gemmil; and his siblings-in-law, Earl Gemmil, Sylvia Waltemath and James Belot.
He is survived by: his children, Ross Waltemath (Shelly) of Kokomo, IN, Connie Williams (Steve) of Wakarusa, IN and Michelle West (Mark) of Centerville, OH; and his sister Rita Belot. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations in his honor may be directed to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo or Fort Wayne Firefighters Museum.
