He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Raymond Kohl, Sr.; and his brother Joseph R. Kohl, Jr.. He is survived by: his parent Shirley Gail Kohl (McCready); his daughters, Anna Kohl and Kristin Kohl; and his siblings, Cheryl Krieg, James Kohl, Richard Kohl, Thomas Kohl and Holli Jo Armstrong.
