He was predeceased by: his father James Alfred; and his wife Carol Davis (Clawson). He is survived by: his children, Deborah Arter (Jim) of Fort Wayne and Mark Davis (LuAnn) of Columbus, Indiana.; his grandchildren, Jim Arter (Anna) of Portland, Oregon, Matthew Arter of Orlando, Florida, Nicholas Davis (Shannon) of Olympia, Washington, Spencer Davis of Whidbey Island, Washington, Adam Davis (Rebecca) of Columbus, Indiana, Lisa Parker (Cole), Christopher Davis (Rachel) and Robin Wiles (Jason) of Fort Wayne; his sons, James A. Davis and Charles R. Davis; and his siblings, Elaine Collins, Mary Wise, Herbert Davis and Ralph Davis. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
