Stuart touched many lives and will be remembered fondly for the moments shared and the memories created. Family, friends, and colleagues extend their love and support during this time. While Stuart’s presence will be missed, the influence he had on others will remain. Those who knew him will carry forward memories that reflect his character and spirit.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean Trainer and Doris Trainer; and his brother David Trainer. He is survived by: his wife Sarah "Sue" Trainer; his children, Mark and Ann Sanford (Arthur); and his grandson Erik Sanford (Kristen). He is also survived by four great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Waynedale United Methodist Church (2501 Church St, Fort Wayne, IN 46809). A masonic service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waynedale United Methodist Church, where he ushered for over 50 years, or Shriners Children's Hospital.
