He was predeceased by: his parents, Mable Brown and William Adams Sr.; and his children, Pheader Groce, Angeline Adams, Derrick Hinton and Marvin Hinton.
He is survived by: his wife Norma Adams; his siblings, Lillie Shears, Annie Laura Petty and Charlie Adams (Bessie); and his children, William Farley, Darrie Hinton, Harvey Stewart (Ruby), Carla Montgomery and Sheila Hinton. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
