He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer L. McWhorter and Helen O. McWhorter (Jones); and his siblings, Mary McWhorter, JoAnne Riley, Fred McWhorter and Samuel McWhorter.

He is survived by: his wife Yan McWhorter (Hong); his daughter Anna McWhorter; and his siblings, Ruby McCoig, Reba Marshall, Rita Davis, Judy Bryant (Kerry), Jean McWhorter, Doris Shelton, Donna Hiner (Kevin), Eddie McWhorter (Lisa) and Larry McWhorter.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Saint Vincent De Paul Society of Shelbyville, 228 East Hendricks Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
