He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Watson and Betty Watson (Burchfield); and his brothers, David, Jimmie and Otis Watson Jr. (Watson).
He is survived by: his children, Joseph L. Watson Jr. (Renea) of Greenwood, Patricia Griffin (Robert) of Franklin and Benjamin Watson; his siblings, Leon Watson of Shelbyville, Michael Watson of Kentucky, Helen Gibson of Rushville, Wilma Troxell of Connersville, Tammy Day of Waldron, Sandy Shaw of Flat Rock, Donna Ford of Florida, Pam Poe of Morristown and Debra Jean Langley of Waldron; his grandchildren, Cristina, Jodi, Joseph III, Savanna, Aaron, Kendra and David Ray; and his great grandchildren, Joseph IIII and Elijah.
