He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Sowers and Alice Sowers (Wert); and his siblings, Theodore Jr. Sowers, Allen Sowers and Vicki Sowers.

He is survived by: his wife Emily Sowers; his children, Keith Sowers (Dawn), Kori Padgett (Russ), Kurt Sowers (Kimberly), Kent Sowers (Stephanie) and Korissa Sowers Thomason; and his grandchildren, Nikkole, Kurt II, Ryan and Melissa.
