He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Grate and Iris Grate (Foltz); his wife Rose Grate; his grandson Randall West; and his brother Stanley Grate.
He is survived by: his daughter Deborah; his son-in-law Rick West of Crossville, Tennessee.; his son Lyle; his daughter-in-law Missy Grate of Auburn; his daughter Diana; and his son-in-law Charles Rommel of Minot.
