The family announces the passing of Jerry E. Doan of Gaston, Indiana on September 27, 2026. Jerry, born on September 24, 1932 in Elwood, Indiana, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil J. Doan and Minnie J. Doan (Fetz); his wife Deanna Doan; his siblings, Marleston Doan, Evelyn Little, Dorothy Roby and Vivian Waymire; his daughter Brenda Kay Doan; and his stepson Scott Gillis.
He is survived by: his sons, Danny E. Doan (Megan Alexander) of Alexandria and Steven E. Doan (Annette) of Fishers; his stepsons, Gary M. "Mike" Gillis (Debra) of Chesapeake and Peter G. Gillis (Julie) of Nokomis, Florida; his caregiver Libby Abel; and his close friend Sue McCaslin. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home (415 S Anderson St, Elwood, IN 46036). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
