He was predeceased by: his mother Catherine Elder; his sons, James Elder Jr. and Christopher A Elder; his grandchild Thomas Elder; and his wife Mary Jo Snyder.
He is survived by: his father Joseph Elder; his children, Janet Elder-Lauer, Susan Elder-Deaton (Keith), Timothy J. Elder (Shari), Mark S. Elder (Nancy), Kenneth B. Elder (Gerri) and Richard M. Elder; and his siblings, Larry Elder, Carolyn Elder and Barbara Cox (Tony). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 11400 Farmers Ln NE, Greenville, IN 47164. A rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 7:30 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
