He was predeceased by: his mother Caroline Merrick (Sensenbaugh); his siblings, Iona Wesley, Forrest, Welmer, Eldon and Francis Merrick; and his son-in-law Thomas Hellinga.
He is survived by: his father Forrest Merrick; his children, Catherine Oxidine (William), Marti Merrick of Goshen, Kristin Kessler (Richard), Julie Hellinga of Plymouth, IN, Michael Merrick (Patti), Mark Merrick (Eva), Matthew Merrick (Delores), William Shannon Merrick (Lynne) and John Merrick of Goshen; and his sisters, Doris Maddux of Elkhart, Dorothy Doust and Thelma Bohli. He is also survived by father who enjoyed being with his family, especially his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
