She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Vanderveer and Ester Lovina Cole (Hendricks); her husband Joseph Hamel; and her brother Charles Vanderveer. She is survived by: her sons, Randy Hite (Kathy), New Paris, Greg Hite (Elaine) and Lafayette. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
