He is survived by: his mother Iris Olivera Cortes; his children, Audreona Cortes Hagerman (Martin), Alexus Cortes, Susan Cortes, Dominic Cortes, Gabriella Cortes, Giovanni Cortes, Miguel Cortes and Frances Cortes; his stepchildren, Luis Kohl (Cindy), Jovani Kohl, Andrea Kohl, Jonathan Kohl and Fernanda Kohl; and his siblings, Ledia Cortes, Mayra Cortes, Walter Cortes (Lisa) and Rosalina Bishop (Andrew). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.
