We are sad to announce that on November 22, 2021, at the age of 77, Opal M. Fort of Gosport, Indiana, born in Anderson, Indiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Otto Wallace and Vivian Irene Whitehead (Koeniger); and her siblings, Joe Whitehead, Rev. Robert Whitehead, Patricia Bentrum, Barbara Sizelove and Judy Livermore.

She is survived by : her children, Melissa A. Fort of New Castle, Indiana and Gerald F. Fort (Frank) of New Castle, Indiana; her granddaughter Sierra Toumanian (Greg) of Pittsburgh; her great grandchild Olivia Toumanian of Pittsburgh; her sister Roberta Josephson (Denny) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; her nieces and nephews, Mona Mellinger, Laura Johnson, Brenda McConell, Karen Braden, Kenny Whitehead, Rick Whitehead, Jim Srygler and Michael Whitehead; and her cousin Liz Dorsey.

Memorial contributions may be made to the animal shelter of your choice in Opal's name.

Lillie Lies wrote a sympathy message

“I am so sorry to hear of Opal’s passing. I met her when she was in the nursing home in Bell Trace. I was her physical therapist. She was a wonderful person. She had so much love for her horses, such a strong woman and full of determination to be well. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to see her again when I left Indiana for New York but we still kept in touch and she was telling me I will see you again. I miss you Opal! I wish I had the.change to see you again. You were like a family to me.”
