She was predeceased by: her husband Joe William Heward; and her grandson Justin Heward. She is survived by: her children, Mary Ellen Behrle (Bob) of Granger, Sue Ann Peterson (Mark) of South Bend, Indiana, William Lee Heward (Jill Dardig) of Worthington and Joseph Erwin Heward (Joyce) of Mattawan, Michigan; her grandchildren, Laura, Lee, Lynn, Amy, Madelyn, Jacob, Matthew and Lucie; and her great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Saralyn, Lucas, Audrey and Mateo. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family prefers contributions in memory of Helen be made to Community In Action, a volunteer group whose mission is to help feed the hungry, honor veterans, nurture children, and support rescue animals.
