He was predeceased by: his parents, William Simms and Josephine Simms (Collins); his son Walter Michael Simms; and his grandson Nicholas Simms. He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Szymanski; his children, Robert J. Simms, Jr. (Barbara) of Spring, TX and Jodi Yager of South Bend; and his grandchildren, Tyler Avery, Sabrina Simms, Lauren Avery and Michael Yager.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the St. Pius X Catholic Church (52553 N Fir Rd, Granger, IN 46530). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
