Darell Keith Nelson Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Darell Keith Nelson of Greencastle, Indiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 27, 2025 at the age of 65. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Darell "Pete" Nelson and Marcia Nelson (Bettis); his grandparents, Louis, Eunice Nelson, Noel and Daitha Bettis; his former wife Cindy; his father-in-law Tommy O'Daniel; his brother-in-law Sam O'Daniel; and his great-nephew Brighton Birt.
He is survived by: his son W. Shane Nelson (Sara) of Cincinnati, OH; his wife Kristi Nelson (Gould) of Greencastle; his grandchildren, Thomas and Cynthia Nelson; his siblings, Karen Birt (Jerry) and Kris Nelson (Jill); and his in-laws, Jody Wilson (Brett), Tim Gould (Mary), Rita Schendel (Bob Calvert), Connie O'Daniel, Jackie Gullet and Michael O'Daniel (Sara). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home (4 Percy L Julian Dr, Greencastle, IN 46135). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
