James E. Davis Obituary

With sadness, we share the passing of James E. Davis of Greenfield, Indiana. James, born on February 17, 1949, passed away on October 17, 2026. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James E. Davis to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, George Beamer, Jr. and Helen Davis (Ellis) of Greenfield; and his parents-in-law, George and Virginia Ryrie. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Ryrie Davis; his daughters, Elizabeth Davis, Virginia Davis (Richard Schmechel) and Catherine Davis (Kristen Smith); his grandchildren, Susannah Davis, Warren Davis, Edward Davis Goldman, Samuel Davis Goldman, Winifred Smith Davis and Ryrie Ellis Smith Davis; and his brothers, Stephen Davis (Barbara) and John Davis (Stacy). He is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory (1484 US-40, Greenfield, IN 46140). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
