With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Scott Vail of Greensburg, Indiana, who passed away on February 8, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Vail and Margaret Vail (Scott); his wife Mary Artmeier; his sister Lucille Bartholick; and his stepbrother Donny Vail.
He is survived by: his children, Melinda Bennett (Dean), Trisha Zobel (Ed) and Brian Vail (Shawn); his grandchildren, Kyle Lusk (Alyssa), Eric Lusk (Mandy), Katie Schultz (Austin), Brooklynn Lozier (Luke), Rosetta Hawthorne (Jake), Megan McGrew (Chris), Bayley Allen (Noah), Lucas Zobel (Samantha), Sierra Vail (Tristan), Taylor Vail, Dalton Vail and Paityn Vail; and his brothers, Eugene Bartholick and Bobby Bartholick. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
