He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Jack Downey and Nora Downey (Baughns); his wife Patricia Downey; his son Robert Lee Downey; his grandchildren, Joseph Downey and Jessica Downey; and his siblings, Doris Jewell, Oneal and Roger Downey.
He is survived by: his sisters, Bertha Parsley (Brad) and Pat Collins; his children, Melody Perry (Charlie), Doris Cleaver (Patrick), Cathy Enochs (Wayne), Tony Downey (Susan), Joe Downey and Allan James; and his daughter-in-law Becky Downey. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, as well as the many nieces, nephews, and friends he loved.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home (1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN 46143). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens (1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN 46143).
