He was predeceased by: his parents, John Benedict and Hilda Benedict (Windmiller). He is survived by: his wife Caroline Benedict (Shelton); his sons, Donald L. Benedict II (Donnie) and Shane Benedict; his grandchildren, Francesca, Nick, Luke and Peyton; and his sisters, Shirley Gray, Gussy Lindsey and Rosemary Mastin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Culberson Funeral Home - Hagerstown (51 W Washington St, Hagerstown, MD 47346). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to American Legion Post 333 or Hagerstown Volunteer Fire Department.
