We are sad to announce that, on February 8, 2026, at the age of 66, Jay Lawrence Hanson of Hammond, Indiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the sacred silence of farewell, Jay is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Herbert and Rosalin Hanson; his brothers, Theodore and Finis Hanson; his girlfriend Sue Kilbourne; and his brother-in-law Tom Buckmaster, Sr..

He is survived by: his sisters, Jennifer Lewis (Jack) and Rose Buckmaster (Terry McCormick); his girlfriend Katherine Mbonu; and his children, Shannon Bircher (Joe) and Johnny Kilbourne. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
