He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Thomas and Helen Bernice Cook (White); his stepfather Ronald Dean Qualkenbush; his wife Phyllis Ann Cook (Grey); his son Jamie Edward Sturgill; his siblings, Sandra Lynn Dixon, John "Bill" William Cook and Jeffrey Kent Cook; his grandson Damien Sturgill; his nieces, Candy Warren, Sandra Pearson and Tabitha Payton; and his great-niece Hannah Archer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Ann Smith (Cook) of Hanover and Tess Renea Sturgill of Hanover; his siblings, Larry Ray Moore, Penelope "Penny" Delight Bailey, Vicky Darlene Warren, Tami Jo Allen, Charles Thomas Cook, Jr., Michael Kevin Cook and Melissa Dawn Craig; and his grandchildren, Natasha Marie Melton, Justin Charles Brooks, Kori Scott Breeding, Dakoda Monroe Breeding, Trey Matthew Sturgill, Brandon Lee Smith, Dakota Eric Storm Watts, Troy Scott Smith, Teanna Nashea Sturgill, Tia Rayne Sturgill, Stephanie Tavine Ann Watts and Cameron Blake Sturgill. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel (117 Holt Dr, Madison, IN 47250). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at the Hanover Cemetery (400 Lowery Ln, Hanover, IN 47243).
