He was predeceased by : his parents, Eugene "Gene" T. Ray and Nancy Carol Oak Ray; his parents-in-law, Donn Lorton and Mary Louise Lorton; his grandson Skyler Ray; and his stepfather Joseph Allen Garriott.

He is survived by : his grandchildren, Brodee and Bailee; his wife Sarah Lorton Ray of Madison, Indiana; his son Daniel Ray (Abby Ray) of Louisville, Kentucky; his stepdaughter Kelli Schmidt (Allan Schmidt) of Madison, Indiana; his grandchildren, Gavin Ray (Haley), Hunter Ray, Adrianna Ray and Brighton Ray; his great grandchildren, Zariah Ray, Zayliah Ray, Zayda Ray, Gavin Ray Jr. and Gunner Ray; his sister Linda Stangle (Kurt) of Carrollton; his uncle David Ray (Hazel) of Crestwood; his close friend Mickey "Mick" McCullough (Kaye); his mother-in-law Mary Carol Stanner Lorton of Madison; his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Kirchner (Joe), Donna Turner, Patti Lorton Welsh, Michael, Louise Lorton, John Lorton, Barbara, Dennis McDonough, Scott, Michelle Karst, Beth and Bryan Taylor; his aunt Minnie Tilley; and his uncles, Allen Donald Tilley and Herschel Dewayne Oak. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre (325 Demaree Dr, Madison, IN 47250). A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Danny Ray Remembrance Fund.
