He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ford and Chloe Allendar Ford; his former wife Betty Jean King; his wife Carolyn P. Pope Chatlos; his sons, Donald E. Ford and Michael R. Ford; and his siblings, Richard, Chester, Wayne, Carl Ford, Mabel Davis, Charlene Harcort, Irene Williams, Geneva Gayman, Virginia Bailey and Rosemary Williamson.

He is survived by: his children, James P. Ford (Lygia) of Elizabethtown and Phyllis E. Grindstaff (Larry) of Madison; his grandchildren, Dawn Ford, Kevin Ford, Allen Ford, Rhonda Grindstaff, Kerry Compton, Lisa Aldridge, Nicholas Ford and Jennifer Ford; his son Jimmy Ford; and his siblings, Robert Ford (Anita) of Edinburgh and Betty Sears of Edinburgh. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
