He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Max Shields, Sr. and Adah Mae Shields (Sims); his brother Howard Max Shields, Jr.; and his grandchild Lauren Shields. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Lou Shields (Goodspeed) of Hartford City; his children, David "Dave" C. Shields (Lisa) of Syracuse, IN and Christina "Chris" Lynn Patrick (Darin) of West Lafayette, IN; his grandchildren, Andrew Shields (Brittany), Brady Shields (Samantha), Landen Bishop, Corey Woolridge, Kali Woolridge and Owen Patrick (Paige); and his great grandchildren, River Patrick, Marlee Patrick, Allister Shields, Abigail Shields, Oliver Shields and Miriam Shields. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
