She was predeceased by : her parents, Clarence Elpers and Loretta Elpers (Jochim); her husband Ron Hertel; and her daughter-in-law Lashell Payne. She is survived by : her children, Theresa Bradley and Gary Hertel; her siblings, Doris Elpers, Paula Connor, Mary Oliver, Diana Sturges (Barry), Vince (Rosa), Richard (Louise), Urban, Harold (Bobbie) and Mike Elpers (Jane); her sister-in-law Carol Datzman; her grandchildren, Christopher Bradley (Alisha), Gracie Hertel and Ryan Hertel; and her great grandchild Eric Bradley. She is also survived by Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A rosary was held on Friday, May 17th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Wade Funeral Home (119 S Vine St, Haubstadt, IN 47639). Visitation was held on Friday, May 17th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, May 18th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, May 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund (http://www.kidneyfund.org) The family would like to thank Davita Dialysis and the Coronary Intensive Care unit at St. Vincent's.
