He is survived by: his sons, James Zbell (Carolyn), John Zbell (Janine), Jeffrey Zbell (Rowena) and Joseph Zbell; his grandchildren, Amber Kepperling (Dave), Brett Zbell (Kelsey), Jacquelyn Zbell (Chad Wittenberg) and Jimmy Zbell; his great grandchildren, Ty Kepperling, Beau Zbell, Greyson and Connor Wittenburg; and his sister Judith Zervins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Richard's name to the Arise campaign at Living Stones Church.
